Nel Wins US$12 Million Order for Containerised PEM Electrolysers

Nel Hydrogen US has received an order worth approximately US$12 million for containerised PEM electrolysers and associated services from an undisclosed American technology company.

Announced on 13 October, the contract covers multiple MC-series units, with delivery estimated during 2027. The electrolyser stacks will be produced at Nel’s Wallingford facility in Connecticut.

The MC platform packages hydrogen production equipment in a modular, containerised format intended to simplify installation and integration at customer sites.

Nel says the order reflects demand from technology customers with demanding operational requirements. The customer name, number of units and aggregate electrical capacity were not disclosed.

The equipment is designed for on-site hydrogen production, offering an alternative to depending entirely on externally delivered hydrogen. The announcement does not identify the electricity source or certify the emissions intensity of hydrogen produced at the customer’s site.

The award adds a defined delivery programme to Nel’s US manufacturing activities and provides another commercial reference for its containerised platform. Attention now turns to manufacturing execution, integration requirements and the planned 2027 deliveries.
