GreenIT Starts Two Piedmont Solar Parks on Redeveloped Extraction Sites

GreenIT has started electricity production at two solar parks in Italy’s Piedmont region, adding approximately 19 MW of installed capacity. The plants, in the provinces of Vercelli and Alessandria, are expected to generate around 30 GWh annually.

The joint venture, owned 51% by Plenitude and 49% by CDP Equity, developed, built and commissioned both facilities. Its 8 September announcement said the installations use roughly 32,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis tracking systems.

The sites previously hosted extraction activities and were subsequently remediated and redeveloped. Their conversion to solar generation forms part of GreenIT’s programme to expand renewable electricity production in Italy.

GreenIT also reported approximately 30 MW of further solar capacity under construction in Campania and Piedmont, with operation expected between late 2026 and early 2027. Its wider solar development pipeline exceeds 300 MW.

The commissioning moves the two Piedmont projects from construction into generation. Expected annual production remains a forecast and will depend on operating conditions and the solar resource.
