Vestas Awarded Wind Turbine Supply Contract in South Korea

Vestas has been awarded a wind turbine supply contract by the Ulsan Gray Whale 3 offshore wind project in South Korea. The 504MW initiative is developed by Corio Generation, TotalEnergies and SK Ecoplant.

Ulsan Gray Whale 3 was announced earlier this year and is part of a 1.5GW floating wind complex to be installed in three phases. The plants will be built approximately 60km off the Port of Ulsan.

According to the contract awarded to Vestas, Ulsan Gray Whale 3 will receive 33 V236-15.0 MW turbines from the company. Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has already been announced as the project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.

Construction for the third development phase of the complex is scheduled for 2025, with start-up expected in 2028.
