Nordex Receives Further Major Turbine Order In Canada

The Nordex Group is further expanding its market position in Canada. A Canadian project developer has commissioned the Nordex Group to supply and install 16 N163/5.X turbines in the 5 MW class for a project with a total capacity of 94 MW in Nova Scotia.

The Nordex Group will supply the turbines for the wind farm from mid-2026, each with a rated output of 5.9 MW. The turbines will be of the cold-climate type and will be installed on 125-metre tubular steel towers and equipped with the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System for rotor blades. This will ensure high availability of the turbines during the cold winter period.

„This is another project with which the Nordex Group is further expanding its market position in Canada“, says Manav Sharma, CEO Division North America of the Nordex Group. „15 years ago, we integrated an anti-icing system for rotor blades into our turbines for the first time. Today, our proven anti-icing solution is one of the keys to our success in cold climate regions – such as Canada. Since ice formation on the rotor blade surface is prevented, ice-related downtimes are minimized.“

The market for wind turbines in Canada is growing steadily. By the end of 2023, the installed wind power capacity had climbed to 17,000 MW.
