Vestas Secures Major Orders Totaling 444 MW in Canada, Germany, and Romania

Vestas announced key orders last week with a total capacity of 444 MW from Canada, Germany, and Romania. These orders highlight the growing demand for sustainable wind energy and strengthen the RENIXX-listed company’s market position. However, Vestas’ share price has not benefited from these announcements.

The largest order Vestas reported last week comes from EDF Power Solutions North America. The contract for the Madawaska wind farm in Canada includes a total of 45 turbines with a total capacity of 274 MW, along with a ten-year service agreement. The European orders include a 96 MW wind farm in Romania and a 74 MW wind project in Germany.

Major Canadian Order: Madawaska Sets Benchmark with 274 MW

Vestas received an order from EDF Power Solutions North America to supply 25 EnVentus V162-6.0 MW turbines and 20 EnVentus V162-6.2 MW turbines for the Madawaska wind project in Québec. The order also includes a ten-year service agreement. The project will provide clean energy to tens of thousands of households in Québec and create local jobs. The 274 MW Madawaska order follows the recently announced 124 MW EnVentus order from EDF Power Solutions for the Haute-Chaudière wind project, also in Québec.

Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America, emphasized: “We’re excited to continue our growing partnership with EDF power solutions North America and the Madawaska project once again highlights the power of collaboration, where proven supply chain expertise meets world-class technology.”

Hydro-Québec’s goal of reaching 10 GW of wind capacity by 2035 provides strong momentum for the expansion of renewable energy.

Tristan Grimbert, President and CEO of EDF Power Solutions North America, added: “Madawaska Wind, the second of three projects awarded by Hydro-Quebec through its call for tenders, serves as a testament to the strength of our collaboration with Vestas.”

Vestas is a leader in onshore wind energy in Canada, with over 5,000 MW (5 GW) of installed capacity and a supply chain supported by more than 300 local suppliers. In Québec, Vestas currently services 428 MW of turbines and announced another 347 MW order in 2024, which is currently under construction.

A key partnership is with Québec-based company Marmen as a tower supplier, securing 150 direct jobs.

Patrick Pellerin, President of Marmen, stated: “We are ready to help mature this market alongside Vestas and EDF power solutions.”

Turbine delivery is scheduled to begin in Q3 2026, with commissioning planned for Q4 2027.

European Orders: 74 MW in Germany and 96 MW in Romania

In Germany, Vestas received an order for wind turbines totaling 74 MW for the Prezelle and Lanze-Lomitz wind farms from Prezeller Wind GmbH, Lanze-Lomitz Wind GmbH, and Eurowind Energy A/S. The order includes 12 V162-6.2 MW turbines and a 20-year service agreement. Delivery is expected to begin in Q3 2026, with commissioning planned for Q4 2026.

In Romania, Vestas received a 96 MW order from OX2 Construction AB for the Ansthall wind farm. The project includes 15 V162-6.4 MW turbines and a long-term service agreement. Delivery is scheduled for Q2 2026, with commissioning in Q1 2027. Almost simultaneously with awarding the contract to Vestas, OX2 announced the sale of the Ansthall wind farm to Helleniq Renewables, along with the signing of a 12-year power purchase agreement with Ahold Delhaize, covering more than 50 percent of the site’s electricity output.
