Munich-based green energy producer Tion Renewables has appointed Ingmar Helmke as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from January 1, 2025. Helmke succeeds Tion co-founder Dr. Martin Siddiqui.
Siddiqui has stepped down as CEO as he wishes to focus more on the company’s business development and drive certain growth initiatives within Tion, but will remain with the company in his new role. Tion co-founder Christoph Strasser will remain as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Tion.
As a seasoned executive in the renewable energy sector, Helmke has extensive experience in investing in renewable energy along the entire value chain – from project development to operations – and in building successful businesses. Before joining Tion Renewables, Helmke held senior positions at Macquarie Capitals’ Green Investment Group and the Aquila Group, an investment company specializing in renewable energies, among others.
“As Martin shifts his focus within the company, we warmly welcome Ingmar Helmke. With his extensive industry expertise and passion for renewable energy, we are confident that Ingmar will guide Tion through its next phase of accelerated growth,” said Thomas P. Wagner, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Tion Renewables, welcoming the new CEO.
“With a solid foundation already in place, I am excited to work with the team to achieve our ambitious growth targets and to further position Tion as a European leader in renewable energy and battery storage solutions,” says Helmke optimistically about his new role.
„Building and leading Tion alongside Christoph during its formative years has been an incredible journey, and I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved. I look forward to continuing my contributions to the company’s growth and am confident that Ingmar is the ideal CEO to steer Tion toward its ambitious goals in collaboration with the management board and team,” adds ex-CEO Siddiqui.
