Genex Power, one of the developers of the Bulli Creek solar power project in Queensland, Australia, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Fortescue. The up to 2GW solar plant will also feature a battery energy storage system (BESS).
According to the agreement, Fortescue will offtake up to 337.5MW of solar energy and large-scale renewable generation certificates at a fixed nominal price for 25 years. The PPA is related to Bulli Creek’s first development phase, which is equivalent to 450MW of the facility’s total capacity.
Fortescue will use the energy secured for the operations of a green hydrogen and ammonia plant in Gibson Island.
