EnviTec Biogas is implementing two French biomethane projects for existing customers: conversion of the Biowatt facility in Brittany and construction of the Valoverte plant in south-west France. Both developments will use the company’s EnviThan upgrading technology.
Biowatt, originally commissioned in 2010, is being converted from electricity production to biomethane. A 250 normal cubic metres per hour upgrading unit is scheduled for delivery and commissioning towards the end of 2026. Modernisation also includes mixer replacement, additional digestion capacity and a biogas boiler.
The gas will enter NaTran’s network and travel through a shared 13-kilometre connection to Loudéac for local heat supply. Digestate will remain available for agricultural use in the surrounding region.
Valoverte is being developed for recycling company Cler Verts. Its upgrading system is rated at 280 normal cubic metres per hour, with expected annual biomethane production of approximately 25 GWh. Agricultural residues and food industry by-products will supply the plant. Gas injection into the GRDF network is expected from July 2027, following construction, installation and commissioning.
